  • Found in the dry regions of Mexico and the south-central United States, the collared lizard is a very colorful lizard named after the unique band around its neck. Like some other lizard species, the collared lizard can run on its hind legs and reach speeds of nearly 20 mph!
  • Scientific Name: Crotaphytus collaris
  • Characteristics: Known to be fairly skittish, make sure you don’t spook this lizard so you can get a closer look! Hand-painted and sculpted with precision to assure true-to-life accuracy, all Safari wildlife figurines are exceptional as educational tools, gifts, additions to a collection or nature diorama, or as toys for creative play.
  • Size and Color: 7.25 inches long and 5.5 inches wide, our collared lizard figurine is about the length of a 16 oz. water bottle on its side, and as wide as the height of a soda can. Quite the combination of colors, this model has a yellow head and feet, a teal back with black and yellow spots, and last but not least its defining dark black neck collar.
  • The Collared Lizard is part of the Incredible Creatures® collection
  • All of our products are Non-toxic and BPA free

Collared lizards can be found in a wide range of habitats, including areas of sagebrush and pinyon-juniper, as well as grasslands and rocky outcrops. With no sympathy for their fellow kind, collared lizards have been documented as not only eating insects like grasshoppers and crickets, but other lizards as well – even other collared lizards! With no current risk of becoming threatened or endangered, collared lizards are free to scuttle around the desert to their heart’s content!
